High protein. Low sugar. Natural. Wholegrain. No artificial colours.
Food packaging gives you plenty of reasons to buy a product, but how do you know whether it is actually the right choice for you?
If you want to eat better but feel confused by food labels, unfamiliar ingredients and products all claiming to be the healthier option, join me for Beyond the Food Label.
This practical and interactive workshop will help you look past the marketing and understand what matters when choosing foods for your body, your goals and the way you actually live.

High protein. Low sugar. Natural.
Wholegrain. No artificial colours.
You want to:
have more energy throughout the day;
feel satisfied after meals and reduce cravings;
manage your weight without following another restrictive diet;
improve your overall nutrition;
understand unfamiliar ingredients and food additives;
make informed choices without second-guessing yourself; or
feel less overwhelmed by food labels and supermarket shelves.
We won’t be looking at perfectly curated examples or creating another list of foods you should and shouldn’t eat.
Before the workshop, you’ll use the free Yehna app to anonymously upload three packaged products you genuinely use.
During the workshop, I’ll review a selection of the group’s real groceries so we can explore
real products, real questions and real-life decisions.
There will be no pantry shaming and no labelling foods as simply ‘good’ or ‘bad’.
understand ingredients lists and nutrition information panels;
look beyond claims such as ‘natural’, ‘low sugar’ and ‘high protein’;
identify unfamiliar ingredients that may be hidden behind numbers or scientific names;
compare products without becoming overwhelmed by every number;
consider how a product fits into a complete meal, snack or overall way of eating;
make choices that support your personal nutrition goals; and
choose one realistic nutrition step to put into practice.
Yehna is an Australian food-scanning app created specifically for products found on Australian and New Zealand shelves.
The app was developed by Aussie mum and coder Stacy after her son experienced a severe reaction to carmine, a red food colouring derived from insects.
When international apps struggled to recognise Australian products or provide information aligned with our local food standards, Stacy decided to create something that did.
Yehna uses Australian and New Zealand food standards to help you understand ingredients and look beyond marketing claims.
Importantly, it doesn’t simply sort foods into ‘good’ and ‘bad’. Its guidance is personalised because different people have different goals, needs and lives.
That makes Yehna a wonderful fit with my approach to nutrition: informed food choices without fear, guilt or rigid rules.
A clearer understanding of what food labels can and can’t tell you, greater confidence in your choices and one realistic step that supports what you want from your nutrition.
A replay will be available to everyone who registers.
